Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a custom furnace system for fuel-flexible burner research and testing. - Buyer: UChicago Argonne, LLC, operator of Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), a U.S. Department of Energy laboratory. - OEMs and suppliers: No furnace OEM or supplier is named. UChicago Argonne, LLC and Argonne National Laboratory are identified as the buyer/operator, not as furnace manufacturers. - Requested equipment: One custom R&D box furnace system, with a modular rectangular burner bung, refractory and insulation, removable cooling tubes, optical windows, instrumentation ports, an exhaust flue with eductor, and three refractory pylon assemblies. - The burner bung seals an opening 36 inches wide by 72 inches high and adapts to different burner flange configurations; spare refractory/insulation material is also requested. - The three pylons are for radiant W-tube testing, radiant U-tube testing, and an indirect-firing tube configuration. - Performance and use: Support direct- and indirect-fired burner testing with natural gas/hydrogen blends from 0–100%; up to 5 MMBtu/hr firing and 2,400°F bulk temperature. Commissioning includes at least two hours of operation at no more than 5 MMBtu/hr. - Services: Design and engineering, fabrication and pre-testing, shipment and delivery, installation, and commissioning. The scope includes design reviews and ANL approval before fabrication, performance checks, and a commissioning report. ANL provides final utility connections and mounts the burner. - Site and notable requirements: Installation and commissioning at ANL Building 362, Highbay. On-site work is subject to contractor safety requirements; work cannot begin until ANL issues a Notice to Proceed. The contractor is responsible for removing and disposing of debris resulting from its work. - Schedule: Approximately six months from award through installation, commissioning, and closeout.
