Johnston Ridge Observatory backup generator inspection, maintenance, and repairs

The USDA Forest Service is seeking inspection, scheduled maintenance, and repair services for the backup diesel generator at Johnston Ridge Observatory. - Government buyer: U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Forest Service, Gifford Pinchot National Forest; the attachment identifies Jorge A. Somoza. - Equipment and OEMs: One existing Simpower Generator Systems 1000 kW/1250 kVA generator, model SP1000D3PS12N-PTA2, with a Mitsubishi S12N-PTA2 engine and MagnaMax synchronous AC generator, model 741RSL20648B. System ratings include three-phase, 60 Hz, 975 kW continuous, 277/480 V, 1219 kVA, and 1466 A. - Requested services: One full system inspection; manufacturer-recommended maintenance for the engine, radiator, exhaust, and diesel fuel systems; and maintenance for the controller, alternator, and automatic transfer switch. Maintenance must be performed and documented for at least 3,000 operating hours. - Potential repairs: Investigate the existing malfunction. Repairs beyond scheduled maintenance require a work description, location, estimated labor, materials, and proposed cost, and may proceed only after Government authorization through a contract modification. - Performance: Work is estimated to begin upon notice to proceed and must be completed within 90 days. No option years or annual subscription are identified.

Description

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 12.  This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; offers are being requested, and a separate written solicitation will not be issued. 

Offeror shall provide inspection, scheduled maintenance, and system repair to the backup diesel generator system for Johnston Ridge Observatory (JRO) located in Toutle, WA. 

The backup diesel generator is a “Simpower Generator Systems” 1000KW, 1250KVA system that has a Mitsubishi engine and a MagnaMax Synchronous AC Generator.

JRO address for this work is: 21000 Spirit Lake Highway, Toutle, WA 98649. Solicitation number 1240BD27Q0009 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ).

The applicable North American Industry Classification Standard Code is 238290 Other Building Equipment Contractors. The small business size standard 22 Million.  The Service code is J061Maint/repair/rebuild of equipment- electric wire and power distribution equipment. This acquisition is a Total Small Business Set-Aside.  All responsible sources may submit a quotation which will be considered by the agency. 

The contract will be a Firm-Fixed Price contract.
