NJEDA Expands Film Ready Communities Program
March 11, 2026
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) and its New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission (NJMPTVC) have designated 15 additional municipalities as Film Ready Communities, increasing the total to 58 across the state. This initiative equips local governments to better accommodate film and television productions, fostering economic development, job creation, and support for small businesses in New Jersey.
- Why this matters: Procurement professionals and contractors should recognize the growing demand for production-related services and infrastructure in these newly designated communities.
- The expansion signals increased opportunities for vendors providing location services, production support, and local government contracting related to film and television projects.
- Businesses can leverage this designation to engage with municipalities prepared to facilitate filming, potentially accelerating project approvals and reducing logistical barriers.
- Agencies and economic development stakeholders may consider aligning procurement strategies to support the infrastructure and services needed by the expanding film industry in New Jersey.
The newest cohort of Film Ready Communities will be prepared for the industrys continued growth, which will support Governor Sherrils vision to create jobs for residents, support small businesses, and drive meaningful economic growth in municipalities across the Garden State.
