Brookhaven Science Associates is gathering supplier capabilities and pricing information for custom 49.2 MHz RF amplifiers for the Electron-Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory. - Government buyer: U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Basic Energy Sciences; procurement through Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA), which operates Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). The identified office is Procurement & Property Management Division, PPM EIC; the end user is the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) project. - Procurement status: This is an RFI/sources-sought notice for information gathering, not a request for proposal or quotation. No amplifier OEM or equipment vendor is named. - Requested equipment: Three 49.2 MHz, 120 kW solid-state RF power amplifier systems for the Hadron Storage Ring bunch-splitting RF system: one first article and two production units. No part numbers are provided. - Additional deliverables: One RF Unit for evaluation and one amplifier demonstrator, each provided for site acceptance testing. The RF Unit is supplied with its lid removed and die painted black for thermal analysis; both may be returned to the contractor after testing. - Technical requirements: Support continuous-wave operation and pulsed operation for cavity conditioning. The system requirements include redundant RF amplifiers and power supplies, controls and monitoring, RF instrumentation, water cooling, protection and safety features, and verification testing. - Contractor scope and notable requirements: Design, manufacture, burn-in, factory acceptance testing, and support for BNL installation, commissioning, and site acceptance testing. BSA approval gates apply before production; extensive design and quality documentation is required.
