The Army is seeking market information on an identification subsystem for the U.S. Navy’s Enhanced Maritime Biological Detection system. - Government buyer: U.S. Army Contracting Command–Aberdeen Proving Ground, supporting the Joint Product Manager for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Sensing, under the Joint Project Manager for CBRN Integrated Early Warning and the Portfolio Management Executive for CBRN Defense; intended user is the U.S. Navy. - Requested capability: An Enhanced Maritime Biological Detection Identification Subsystem (EMBD IDS), designed as a backward-compatible replacement for the Joint Biological Point Detection System Identifier. - Purpose: Automatically identify biological warfare agents in liquid samples delivered by the EMBD Collector through the EMBD Fluid Transfer System. - Desired requirements: Multiplex identification of bacteria, viruses, toxins, and designated simulants; sensitivity and specificity comparable to PCR; rapid processing; compact shipboard installation; military-standard power and data interfaces; and resilience to naval environments and decontamination. - Quantities and part numbers: None specified. No OEMs or vendors are named in the provided materials. - Market information sought: Technical capability, system integration, environmental resilience, production capability, and rough-order-of-magnitude pricing.
Description
The Joint Product Manager for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Sensing (JPdM CS), under the Joint Project Manager for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Integrated Early Warning (JPM CBRN IEW), under the Portfolio Management Executive Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (PME CBRND) within the Department of War (DoW), is conducting market research to identify potential industry sources capable of providing a Biological Warfare Agent (BWA) identification capability for integration into the U.S. Navy's Enhanced Maritime Biological Detection (EMBD) system.
As a backward-compatible replacement for the Joint Biological Point Detection System (JBPDS) Identifier, the EMBD Identification Subsystem (IDS) automatically provides confirmatory identification of Biological Warfare Agents (BWAs) in liquid samples. In operation, the EMBD Collector gathers the sample externally and routes it to the IDS via the EMBD Fluid Transfer System (FTS).
