Air Force depot repair of E-3 AWACS power supplies and B-52 radar magnetron/electron tubes

The U.S. Air Force is seeking information and repair capability for two specialized aircraft radar components. - Government buyer: Department of the Air Force, Air Force Materiel Command, Air Force Sustainment Center, FA8539 AFSC PZABA; related attachment materials also identify the U.S. Air Force. - Requested repairs: - E-3 AWACS AN/APY-1/2 5-Volt Power Supply, part number PS12295, NSN 6130-01-451-3046CW. Depot repair must return serviceable units; turnaround is 45 calendar days per unit, at a rate not required to exceed three per month. The contractor must report repair activity in CAV-AF and meet quality requirements. - B-52 AN/APQ-166 Magnetron/Electron Tube, part number VMX-1849, NSN 5960-01-318-0987. Depot-level test and repair must meet form, fit, function, and interface requirements in Source Control Drawing 156-116. - OEM: CPI (Cage 88236) is identified as the original manufacturer and only known repair source for the B-52 magnetron/electron tube. No OEM is identified for the E-3 power supply. - The Government states it does not own the technical data needed for these repairs. For the B-52 component, it also says acquiring the data or qualifying another source is not feasible based on available information. - Contractors must provide the materials, tools, support and test equipment, and services needed for B-52 repair; replacement parts must meet or exceed original quality. The E-3 power supply repair requirement has a one-year period of performance. No repair quantities are specified.

Description

The Government is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the repair data, expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet qualification requirements to repair the E-3 APY-1/2 The National Stock Numbers (NSN) and Part Numbers (PN) are as follows: 6130014513046CW, PN PS12295.

The AN/APY-1/2 E-3 surveillance radar 5-Volt Power Supply is currently repaired by Levison (57U95) under contract FA8539-26-P-0001. The RMC/RMSC code for the AN/APY-1/2 E-3 surveillance radar 5-Volt Power Supply is R3/Q. This service has been previously awarded to Levison, who has been licensed the technical repair data from Brandt. The technical data required to organically repair or complete the repair is not owned by the Government and is uneconomical to acquire the data by purchase or to reverse engineer the item.
