Description
The grant supports states in developing and implementing a process to notify motor vehicle owners and lessees about open recalls at vehicle registration. The work includes developing a methodology to identify open recalls, notifying vehicle owners and lessees, and reporting notification processes and methodologies to NHTSA. Award recipients must operate the notification program for two years and evaluate its performance using completed-recall analysis. Eligible applicants are state agencies authorized to register motor vehicles for public-road use with the infrastructure, staff, and support to carry out the work.
