The Federal Aviation Administration proposes an airworthiness directive for certain Airbus aircraft; this is a safety rule, not a procurement opportunity. - Government buyer: U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). - OEM: Airbus SAS, covering certain A318, A319, A320, and A321 airplanes. ARIES is identified as the supplier of the affected overhead stowage compartment (OHSC) bins. - The FAA estimates that 1,370 U.S.-registered airplanes would be affected. No products, purchase quantities, or procurement part numbers are specified. - Proposed actions include a one-time inspection of left- and right-hand OHSC housing side attachments, reporting results to the manufacturer, and corrective actions based on findings. Actions may include detailed inspection, repair, or replacement; manufacturer repair instructions may be required. - Installation of affected parts would be prohibited. The procedures are based on EASA AD 2025-0248. - No contract value or period of performance applies.
Description
The Federal Aviation Administration proposes a new airworthiness directive for specified Airbus SAS A318, A319, A320, and A321 airplanes equipped with certain overhead stowage compartment bins. Following reports of damage to attachment points and migration of bushings, retainer rings, and pins, the proposal would require a one-time inspection and applicable corrective actions based on the findings. It would also prohibit installation of affected parts. Comments are due December 21, 2026.
