They must carry the exemption and meet applicable commercial driver’s license testing requirements. FMCSA may revoke an exemption for noncompliance or safety concerns. - Separate lamp notice: Metronet applied to use a Grote Industries LLC amber brake-activated pulsating lamp on commercial vehicles, including pickup truck service vehicles, in addition to required steady-burning brake lamps. The notice requests public comments; no lamp part number or quantity is provided. - Procurement status: The notices do not describe a purchase of products or services or identify a contract value.
Description
FMCSA announces its final decision to exempt 16 individuals from the federal requirement barring interstate commercial motor vehicle drivers with epilepsy or certain seizure disorders. The exemptions allow the individuals, who have had one or more seizures and take anti-seizure medication, to operate CMVs in interstate commerce. Drivers must comply with specified medical, reporting, and other safety conditions. The exemptions were applicable July 27, 2026, and expire July 27, 2028.
