Description
The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) issued a final rule amending 12 CFR part 701 concerning federal credit unions’ statutory lien authority. The rule removes paragraph 701.39(a)(1), which contains the phrase “except as otherwise provided by law or except as otherwise provided by federal law.” NCUA stated that the language does not help credit unions determine whether applicable statutory or case law exists and has no material value. The final rule is effective December 4, 2026.
