The City of Aurora is seeking a contractor to rehabilitate Water Well No. 115 and restore reliable, sustainable pumping capacity. - Government buyer: City of Aurora, Illinois — Water Production Division. Engineering Enterprises, Inc. is identified as the project engineer. - Scope: Remove and inspect the existing pump, motor, piping, cables, valves, and related equipment; repair or replace components; clean and redevelop the well and aquifer; reinstall equipment; test, disinfect, and restore the site. - Named OEMs and suppliers: Byron Jackson/Flowserve is the specified pump manufacturer and is named for the existing Type H motor and Type M motor option. Sun-Star is an alternate motor supplier; Pump Group and Simflo are alternate pump suppliers. Dynotek is named for the Owner-provided Slimline pressure transducer. Engineering Enterprises, Inc. is the named project engineer, not an OEM. - Key quantities: 95 linear feet of 1½-inch PVC carrier pipe; 21 linear feet of new 8-inch discharge column pipe; 63 linear feet of existing pipe rehabilitation; 2 television surveys; 8 hours of bailing; and 3 hours of pumping tests. The bid schedule also includes two O-rings, three couplings, one surge valve, and one 8-inch by 5-foot stainless-steel pipe. - Pump and motor requirements: The pump specification gives duty points of 875 gpm at about 210 feet total dynamic head and 700 gpm at 250 feet, with at least 80% guaranteed efficiency and a maximum synchronous speed of 1,760 rpm. A new motor specification calls for 60 HP, 460V, three-phase, 1,760 rpm and at least 86% efficiency. A separate alternate covers conversion of the existing 75 HP Type H motor to a Type M double-mechanical-seal motor. - Alternates: Price a Byron Jackson/Flowserve Type M motor, a Sun-Star Type M motor, Pump Group and Simflo pumping assemblies, rehabilitation of the existing Byron Jackson/Flowserve pump, and conversion of the existing motor. - Notable requirements: The intended result is sustainable well yield without throttling. Aquifer treatment must use NSF 61-certified products; pumping tests must measure discharge, water levels, and recovery; and the contractor must provide inspection and test documentation. A $7,500 contingency allowance is included.
