McMaster University is seeking an advanced plasma FIB-SEM system with integrated ToF-SIMS for its Canadian Centre for Electron Microscopy (CCEM). - Buyer: McMaster University, Canadian Centre for Electron Microscopy (CCEM). - OEM: Thermo Fisher Scientific. Systems for Research Corp. is identified as the pre-selected supplier and as Thermo Fisher’s sole Canadian distributor and service provider for electron and ion microscopes. - Requested system: one plasma focused ion beam scanning electron microscope (PFIB-SEM) with integrated time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS). - The plasma ion column must support software-selectable xenon, argon, oxygen, and nitrogen species and high-current milling. - The monochromated field-emission SEM column must provide sub-nanometre imaging at low landing energies. - Integrated, manufacturer-supported ToF-SIMS must enable 2D and 3D elemental and isotopic analysis, including light elements such as hydrogen and lithium. - Additional capabilities include gas delivery, nanomanipulation, automated sample preparation, serial sectioning, and delayering. - Installation and user training are required.
Description
McMaster University and the Canadian Centre for Electron Microscopy require a plasma focused ion beam scanning electron microscope with multiple selectable ion species and integrated time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry. The system is to support high-sensitivity 2D and 3D elemental and isotopic analysis, sample preparation, serial sectioning, and delayering, and must include installation and training. McMaster University intends to award the contract to Systems for Research Corp. under an Advance Contract Award Notice, while inviting other potential suppliers to submit a Statement of Capabilities Form by the closing date. If another submission meets the requirements, the university may proceed with a competitive procurement.
