The Federal Aviation Administration proposes updated airworthiness requirements for specified Embraer ERJ 190 airplanes. - Government buyer: U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); no specific office identified. - OEM: Embraer S.A. makes the affected aircraft. Yaborã Indústria Aeronáutica S.A. is identified as a previous type-certificate holder. Agencia Nacional de Aviacao Civil (ANAC), Brazil’s aviation authority, is the source of incorporated requirements, not a supplier. - Affected aircraft: Embraer ERJ 190-100 STD, -100 LR, -100 IGW, and -100 ECJ; and ERJ 190-200 STD, -200 LR, and -200 IGW. The FAA estimates 46 U.S.-registered airplanes would be affected. - Proposed operator actions: Retain certain existing requirements and revise maintenance or inspection programs to incorporate updated airworthiness limitations, inspections, and Critical Design Configuration Control Limitations (CDCCLs) from ANAC requirements. The action addresses potential system-component failures that could reduce structural integrity and system reliability. - Procurement status: This is proposed safety rulemaking, not a purchase request; no products, quantities for purchase, or contract value are identified.

Description

The Federal Aviation Administration proposes to supersede Airworthiness Directive 2024-17-03 for specified Embraer ERJ 190-100 and ERJ 190-200 airplanes. The proposal would retain certain existing requirements and require revising the maintenance or inspection program to incorporate additional new or more restrictive airworthiness limitations. These changes address the risk of certain system component failures that could reduce structural integrity and system reliability. Comments are due by December 18, 2026.
