The U.S. Department of State, through the U.S. Embassy Belmopan, is seeking a provider for combined health and group life insurance for eligible U.S. Government personnel in Belize. - Buyer: U.S. Department of State, U.S. Embassy Belmopan / U.S. Mission Belize; participating agencies include State, Defense, Justice, Agriculture, MCC, and Peace Corps. - Services: Health insurance for eligible employees and dependents, plus group life, accidental death and dismemberment, and disability coverage. Health benefits include medical, emergency, maternity, prescription, dental, optical, hearing, mental-health, and qualifying out-of-country care. Benefits, exclusions, caps, and reimbursement terms are specified in the solicitation. - Coverage and enrollment: Health plan categories are Self, Self Plus One, and Family. Solicitation estimates vary by contract year; base-year estimates are 24 Self, 22 Self Plus One, and 83 Family premiums. A separate census summary identifies 19 employees with single coverage. These figures describe estimates, not guaranteed enrollment quantities. - Life benefits: Natural-death and total-disability benefits are 24 times monthly basic salary; accidental-death benefits are 30 times monthly basic salary. Partial-disability benefits vary by loss. The Government pays 100% of life premiums and generally pays 90% of health premiums. - Notable requirements: One award is intended to cover both health and life insurance. Medical coverage is required; Group Personal Accident coverage cannot replace it. The documents cite differing health annual maximums (BZD 78,000 and BZD 200,000 per covered person), so the applicable solicitation requirements should be confirmed. Contractors must demonstrate appropriate insurance licensing and plan-administration capability, administer claims, provide benefit materials, and submit claims reporting. - OEMs and vendors: No insurance carrier, OEM, or vendor is named in the provided materials. No product part numbers are specified; CLIN identifiers are listed below. - Term: One base year, four 12-month option years, and a separate option for up to six additional months, subject to the solicitation's stated duration limits. - Value context: Historical annual premiums were approximately BZ$485,000–BZ$507,000. A rough multi-year planning estimate is approximately US$1.2 million–US$1.5 million; this is not a stated government estimate and may vary with enrollment, riders, and price adjustments.
