VA Pittsburgh seeks 350 tons of road salt and 1,764 bags of premium ice melt

VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System is seeking a one-time supply of bulk road salt and premium bagged ice melt for winter maintenance. - Government buyer: Department of Veterans Affairs; VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS); Network Contracting Office 4. - Products requested: - 350 tons of bulk road salt (sodium chloride), with anti-caking agent, no more than 1% water, and effective to -10°F. - 1,764 bags of premium ice melt, 50 lb per bag. The requested product is Ice Beeter or equivalent; it must be pellet or granular, corrosion-inhibited, suitable for concrete, asphalt, and vegetation, and effective to at least -20°F. - Delivery and handling: Bulk salt is planned in two 175-ton installments, one in December and one in mid-January; delivery timing for ice melt is unspecified. Salt is to be delivered to the salt bin at Building 53, Heinz Campus. Ice melt must arrive on pallets no heavier than 2,500 lb; bags must be weatherproof and waterproof, and the product must be dry, unclumped, and ready to use. - OEMs and vendors: Ice Beeter is named as a product example, but no manufacturer or vendor is identified. Equivalent products are allowed.
