The National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences is gathering small-business capability information for DNA sequencing services supporting its research program. - Government buyer: Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS); Office of the Director, Office of Logistics and Operations, Office of Acquisition and Logistics Management, Hospital and Laboratory Support Division. - Opportunity: Sources Sought for an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) DNA sequencing service; this is market research, not a solicitation. - Services requested: Primarily high-throughput Sanger sequencing, plus a smaller volume of whole-plasmid sequencing. Estimated workload is approximately 2,000–3,000 samples per month; actual volume may vary. No part numbers or fixed quantities are specified. - Service scope: Sample receipt, tracking, storage and preservation; requested PCR amplification, purification and DNA normalization; primer design and assay support; sequencing quality control and contractor-attributable repeat work at no added cost; whole-plasmid data assembly and annotation; shipping materials and sample transport; web-based ordering and status tracking; secure results access; and technical and bioinformatics support. - Turnaround and deliverables: Two Government business days for plasmid DNA or PCR amplicons; five Government business days for genomic DNA requiring PCR amplification. Sanger files include .ab1, .seq and qscrl; whole-plasmid work includes raw FASTQ data, a QC report, consensus assembly and annotation files. Remaining DNA must be retained for at least 180 days unless otherwise directed. - OEMs/vendors: No OEMs or vendors are named in the provided materials. - Performance period: Five years, structured as one base year and four option years, with a possible six-month extension.
