SAFCA is seeking a qualified operator for conservation-focused cattle grazing on its Lower Dry Creek Floodplain properties near Rio Linda, California. - Government buyer: Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency (SAFCA); no sub-agency or procurement office is identified. - Scope: Lease and operate grazing on approximately 532 acres. The grazer supplies cattle, labor, materials, equipment, and related services. Up to three horses may be used for cattle management. - Grazing capacity: Estimated base capacity is 711 animal unit months (AUMs) annually, with an approximate range of 397–1,130 AUMs depending on forage conditions. Wildfire, flooding, and other conditions may affect available forage. - Management requirements: Support wildlife habitat and native vegetation, control invasive plants and hazardous fuels, report grazing use monthly, and adapt grazing to forage and property conditions. Grazing is limited to designated units and must follow the Range Management Plan and applicable conservation and flood-control easements. Maintain residual dry matter between 800 and 1,400 pounds per acre and provide cattle water where needed. - Rent and risk coverage: Annual rent is $2,000, payable in two installments; forage-loss credits may apply under specified conditions. Required insurance includes general liability covering agricultural and livestock operations, livestock escape or straying, and resulting injury or property damage; stated minimums include $2 million general liability per occurrence, $1 million environmental coverage, and $1 million employer’s liability. - OEMs and vendors: No cattle, equipment, or service vendors are named. Related attachment references include the City of Sacramento, Sacramento Valley Open Space Conservancy, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; these are not identified as vendors for this lease. - Related attachment context: Hansen Ranch conservation-easement and range-management materials concern separate conservation and habitat activities, not additional deliverables under the SAFCA grazing lease.
