Waco Independent School District is seeking an integrated server, virtualization, and migration solution to replace its VMware-based environment. - Government buyer: Waco Independent School District (Waco ISD), Purchasing Department. - Named OEMs and vendors: Nutanix, Verge.io, Proxmox VE, and HPE are named as potential non-VMware platform options. The existing environment includes VMware, Cisco servers and networking, Intel processors, and a Pure Storage array that the District plans to retain. - Requested products: - Enterprise x86 server hardware, including supply, racking, and configuration. No new hardware quantities or part numbers are provided. - A non-VMware hypervisor and management platform; named options are Nutanix AHV, Verge.io, KVM/Proxmox VE, and HPE Morpheus. - Networking hardware, if required, and configuration to support the revised 40/100GbE requirement for internode and storage traffic. - Existing environment: Six Cisco UCS UCSB-B200-M5 hosts at the primary site and three at the secondary site, using Intel Xeon Gold 6126 processors. The environment includes 255 primary-site VMs and 8 secondary-site staging VMs. The Pure Storage array will remain in use. - Requested services: Assess the existing virtual machines, application dependencies, storage, and performance; plan and execute a phased migration; conduct pilot migrations, benchmarking, and user acceptance testing; implement and cut over the new environment; and provide networking configuration, staff training, documentation, and post-implementation support. - Notable requirements: High availability, live migration, snapshots, disaster-recovery integration, centralized monitoring and resource allocation, automated patching and updates, zero data loss, and minimal operational disruption. Proposals should include an integrated design, detailed bill of materials, licensing approach, migration plan, warranties and support terms, and cost breakdown.
Description
Waco ISD seeks proposals from qualified systems integrators, hardware vendors, and technology providers to design, deliver, and execute a migration of its on-premise virtualization infrastructure. The work includes replacing existing server hardware and transitioning from VMware to an alternative enterprise-grade hypervisor, such as Nutanix AHV, Verge.io, KVM/Proxmox VE, or HPE Morpheus. The selected vendor will provide an integrated hardware-software architecture, migration methodology, implementation services, and post-implementation support. The solicitation calls for zero data loss and minimal operational disruption; Addendum 1 changes the networking description on page 2 and the board meeting date on page 3.
