Salt Lake County is seeking a general contractor to renovate its Midvale Campus and build an adjacent parking structure on a former industrial site. - Government buyer: Salt Lake County, Facilities Management; the geotechnical report identifies Ryan S. Henrie as the County contact. - Scope: Reconfigure the existing County building for relocated operations and construct a parking structure of at least 40 spaces, approximately 15,000 square feet. - Named vendor: Kleinfelder provided the geotechnical investigation and recommendations. No product manufacturers or OEMs are specified. - Site and foundation requirements: The site is within the Midvale Slag Superfund area, with variable undocumented fill, slag, debris, and potentially contaminated material. The geotechnical report recommends deep foundations such as driven pipe piles or drilled micropiles. - Notable construction requirements: Protect and restore the existing environmental cap; obtain required approvals before disturbing it; manage contaminated materials and construction spoils appropriately; and provide a compliant health and safety plan. Environmental/pollution liability coverage of $10 million is specified. - Recommended geotechnical work: Additional test pits during bidding, pile load testing, and geotechnical observation during construction are recommended. Follow-on services include plan review, earthwork and fill observation, and confirmation of foundation conditions.
