South Academic Building Basement Electrical Room Conversion

The University of Alberta is seeking construction work to prepare a basement room for new sectionalizer switchgear.

Description

The University of Alberta is seeking an upgrade to existing sectionalizer switchgear equipment, which is past its expected lifetime and supports functions across the university campus. The work involves converting Room B-52 in the South Academic Building basement into an electrical room and placing two new sectionalizer switchgear units there. Connections from the switchgear to electrical services outside the room are excluded from this project, as they are covered under a separate project. Minor patching, repairs, and refinishing may be required for new or altered mechanical and electrical services or for damage caused during construction or equipment movement; the estimated contract period is eight months, with a proposed start date of December 1, 2026.
