Description
The Department of the Air Force will prepare an Environmental Impact Statement to assess potential social, economic, and environmental effects of aircraft training and exercises at Saipan International Airport, Tinian International Airport, Tinian North Field, and Rota International Airport. The proposed activities include training events with up to 1,200 fixed-wing and 320 rotary-wing operations per airfield annually, along with related fuel, personnel, temporary infrastructure, and support services. The EIS will also assess an alternative with 20 percent greater aircraft-operation intensity and a No Action Alternative. A 30-day public scoping period begins with publication of the notice; the Draft EIS is anticipated in Fall 2027 and the Final EIS in Summer 2028.
