Des Moines seeks multi-site streetscape landscape and planter maintenance

The City of Des Moines Public Works Department is seeking annual landscape and planter maintenance across multiple city sites and commercial districts. - Buyer: City of Des Moines, Finance / Procurement; Public Works is the using department. The procurement contact named in the attachment is June Nasby. - Services requested: Maintenance of at-grade planter beds, planted medians, bioswales/raingardens, and bioretention cells, plus district landscape care and seasonal annual flowers. - Sites include 6th Avenue; two sections of E. ML King; SE 14th Street; Forest Avenue; Rutland Avenue; Center Street; Pleasant Street and Polk Boulevard; Broadway Avenue; and the East Army Post Road medians. - Beaverdale landscape maintenance covers 40 planter beds; its annual flower service covers 17 cone-shaped planter pots. Roosevelt/42nd Street landscape maintenance is also included. - Work includes seasonal bed preparation, weeding, watering, fertilization, mulching, debris and silt removal, planter planting and upkeep, and reporting plant or structural issues. Mowing is excluded from district landscape maintenance. - The request includes per-plant replacement pricing for Beaverdale and Roosevelt/42nd Street, plus optional seasonal watering and monthly fertilization for Beaverdale's 17 large planter pots. - Notable requirements: The Forest Avenue bioswales require biweekly trash/debris pickup and weed removal, plus post-storm dirt and silt removal to maintain water flow. Beaverdale flower pots require seasonal arrangements, including fall and winter plantings or decorations. - OEMs and vendors: No OEMs, product brands, or vendor names are specified in the solicitation. - Contract term: One initial annual term with the possibility of five additional one-year extensions. No products or part numbers are requested.

Description

The City of Des Moines Public Works Department is soliciting bids from qualified companies to provide annual streetscape landscape and planter maintenance at various City locations. Work is to be performed in accordance with the terms, conditions, and specifications of the Request for Quotation. Following award, selected contractors must attend a mandatory meeting with the City to review contract requirements and visit sites to document existing plant conditions. Responses must be submitted through the electronic bidding system; faxed, emailed, mailed, and hand-delivered submissions are not accepted.
