The Federal Aviation Administration issued airworthiness directives covering Airbus Helicopters SA 365 N helicopters and, in a separate notice, certain Boeing 757 aircraft; these are safety requirements, not a procurement solicitation or award. - Government buyer and issuing office - U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). - OEMs named - Airbus Helicopters — SA 365 N helicopter and tail gear box requirements. - Boeing — separate, partially described requirements concerning certain 757 aircraft. - Airbus Helicopters SA 365 N requirements - Repetitive functional inspections of the tail gear box (TGB) input flange, part number 365A33500000, to check for nondisplacement. - Corrective actions depend on inspection results and may include gauging the input flange and obtaining an approved repair solution. The directive incorporates EASA AD 2026-0029; specified repairs must be approved by the FAA International Validation Branch Manager, EASA, or Airbus Helicopters Designated Organization Approval. - The safety concern is loss of tightening torque that could degrade or jam input roller bearings and lead to loss of yaw control. - Boeing 757 requirements noted in the attachment - Certain Boeing Model 757-200 and -300 series airplanes are subject to replacement of PSU-mounted video monitors that lack secondary-retention lanyards. The available attachment summary does not provide the complete requirements. - The stated exception is Model 757-200 freighters converted under STC ST01529SE, which do not have PSU-mounted video monitors. - No items are being purchased; the source specifies no procurement quantities or contract value.
Description
The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive for all Airbus Helicopters Model SA 365 N helicopters. It addresses reported tightening torque loss on the input flange nut caused by circular wear, which could degrade or jam the input roller bearings and result in loss of yaw control. The directive requires repetitive functional inspections and, depending on the results, corrective actions. It is effective November 12, 2026.
