NSWC Crane seeks 82 Accu Trex compatible replacement shims

The U.S. Navy’s Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, is seeking Accu Trex shims for the SP22–Columbia/Dreadnought program. - Government buyer - Department of the Navy, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Crane Division. - OEM and vendor - Accu Trex (also written AccuTrex) is identified as the shim manufacturer and proposed sole source. Its AccuPeel laminated shims use bonded layers of precision-gauge metal foil or composites. - Products requested - 64 US shims, 16 UK shims, and 2 D5LE2 shims; all part number BRFLX0800X4800X.125-2 (82 total). - The specification identifies L/T Rounding Ring Shims, COMP 2, Type 1, Class 1, 0.125-inch thickness, per AMS-DTL22499, in 8 × 48-inch sheets. - Shipping is also required. - Notable requirements - The shims are direct replacements needed to maintain compatibility with the existing system. The Navy states that an alternate source could require testing and risk delaying shipments. - Inspection reports, applicable certificates, and certificates of conformance are required; the government retains final acceptance or rejection authority. - Delivery is required within four weeks after award; accelerated delivery is acceptable. The acquisition memorandum describes upcoming program shipments over a 24-month planning period.

ITEM DESCRIPTION- Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane has a requirement for SHIM P/N: BRFLX0800X4800X.125-2, Qty (64) US, (16) UK, and (2) D5LE2.

The proposed contract action is for the supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source, Accu Trex, Canonsburg, PA, (4V664) under the authority of FAR 13.106-1. This is being sole sourced because these Shims are a direct replacement for the item currently in use and is required to maintain compatibility with the existing system configuration. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, which shall be considered by the agency. However, a determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this solicitation is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.

This solicitation is being issued pursuant to the procedures at FAR Part 13.  Synopsis exception FAR 5.202(a)(13) applies and Solicitation Number N00164-27-Q-0012 is hereby issued as an attachment hereto.

All changes to the requirement that occur prior to the closing date will be posted to Contract Opportunities on https://sam.gov/.  It is the responsibility of interested vendors to monitor https://sam.gov/ for any amendments, which may be issued to this solicitation. 

For changes made after the closing date, only those offerors that provide a quote will be provided any changes/amendments and considered for future discussions and/or award.
