Alaska is reviewing a utility easement application for existing power-line infrastructure along Thane Road in Juneau; this is a public land-use notice, not a product or service procurement. - Government buyer: Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land and Water, Southeast Regional Land Office. - Applicant and named utility: Alaska Electric Light & Power Company (AEL&P). The notice concerns existing poles and guy wires along Gastineau Channel on state-owned tidelands. - Proposed easement: approximately 30 feet wide and 1.35 miles long, covering about five acres. An application attachment also describes a 2,497.25-foot-long, 50-foot-wide easement of approximately 2.9 acres; these are the dimensions reported in the separate source documents. - The attachment describes pole replacement work using a high-flotation tracked excavator, identified as a Hitachi 200 or equivalent. Solid rock may require track drilling and controlled blasting with a blast mat; excavated soil would be temporarily placed on uplands for backfill. - OEM mentioned: Hitachi, referenced only as an example excavator manufacturer; no equipment purchase is requested. ACS/GCI is also mentioned in connection with communications poles in the area, not as a supplier for this notice. - No products are being purchased. The requested action is authorization of a public easement, with public input sought before the state makes a decision.
