The U.S. Forest Service notice concerns proposed land-management amendments for domestic sheep and goat grazing in the Okanogan and Wenatchee National Forests, not a procurement. - Government buyer: U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. - Proposed amendments: Add two standards to the forest land-management plans: - BHS 1: Require effective separation of domestic sheep from bighorn sheep on active grazing allotments to reduce disease-transmission risk. - BHS 2: Use risk assessments to inform whether and how domestic sheep and goat allotments are stocked. - Procurement status: No goods or services are requested; no OEMs, vendors, products, quantities, or part numbers are identified.
Description
The Forest Service is amending the 1989 Okanogan National Forest and 1990 Wenatchee National Forest Land Management Plans through a programmatic amendment connected to the Planning and Management of Domestic Sheep and Goat Grazing Within the Range of Bighorn Sheep Project. The amendment would add two standards addressing separation of domestic sheep and bighorn sheep and use of risk assessments for domestic sheep and goat allotments to help address disease-transmission risks. This notice opens a 60-day period for eligible individuals or entities to object to the amendments before approval. The notice states that the objection period begins with publication of the legal notice in The Wenatchee World; objections may also be submitted electronically by December 22, 2026.
