Prepare, prime, and paint specified surfaces; blast and paint port and starboard ballast tanks; clean four fuel tanks and two slop/CHT tanks. - Replace or service shaft seals, cutlass bearings if needed, fuel lines and valves, four ballast-tank hatch assemblies, transfer piping, two sea-chest butterfly valves, rub rail, handrail, exhaust-stack steel, and shore-power connection components. Inspect the anchor winch and service brake pads if needed. - Quantities and notable specifications - SCDNR supplies an estimated 75 ZHC-23 hull and keel-cooler zincs; it also supplies cutlass bearings if needed, keel-cooler coolant, and ballast-tank hatch rings/covers. The contractor supplies the two DryMax shaft-seal kits and other labor, materials, and equipment. - Replace seals and garter springs on both shafts; inspect hull thickness at 30 locations; clean four fuel tanks; remove and install four ballast-tank hatch covers. The hatch-cover work includes 18 steel rings for 18 aluminum covers. - Fuel-line work includes schedule 80 pipe, fittings, valves, and a fuel sump. Fuel-transfer valve work includes removing eight gate valves and installing welded caps and specified nipples. The fresh-water spigot repair is estimated to use 12 inches of pipe; the port-side slop-tank transfer-pipe replacement is estimated to use 10 feet of 2-inch schedule 80 pipe. - Rub-rail work covers approximately 40 feet in two sections. The port-side handrail uses an estimated 80 feet of 1.5-inch pipe. Exhaust-stack repairs use an estimated two steel-plate sections, each 60 by 26 inches, and threaded stainless-steel couplers. The doghouse doubler-plate specification calls for 12 pieces of 4-by-1/4-inch flat bar. - Replace approximately 80 feet of 2/4 Type W, 600V/2000V Carol Super VU-TRON shore-power cable and install a matching Hubble or Leviton connection port for the vessel’s 100A, three-phase, 208V system. - OEMs and named manufacturers/brands - Duramax DryMax shaft-seal kit; Fernstrum keel-cooler zincs; Volvo VCS coolant; Carol Super VU-TRON cable; and Hubble or Leviton shore-power connection port. - Performance and quality requirements - Estimated performance period is roughly four months, spanning late-year through early spring. Work should begin as soon as practical after award; the vessel must be able to depart for Charleston Harbor by the end of the performance period. - Repair and service work carries a 90-day warranty. New installed items have a 365-day workmanship guarantee plus the applicable manufacturer’s warranty. Hull-thickness problem areas may be addressed as add-on work.
