NSWC Crane seeks specialized components for its Short-Pulse Gamma (SPG) machine, with Fisica Applied Technologies, Inc. identified as the OEM and intended sole source. - Government buyer: Department of the Navy, U.S. Navy; Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Warfare Center, supporting the CR-GXM organization. - OEM / intended source: Fisica Applied Technologies, Inc. (ATI), identified as the OEM of the Government-owned SPG machine. - Products requested: - 20 Spark Gap Switches, 200 kV, manufacturer part number 50264. - 5 Cathode Tips, Hemisphere, manufacturer part number T000064327. - Shipping is also included; one shipping line item is listed. - Notable requirements: The switches are tailored to the SPG machine. The acquisition rationale states that developing an alternate design could require approximately two man-years and would void existing SPG warranties. The Government cites the OEM-specific system design and performance/test specifications as the basis for seeking a sole-source purchase.
