NIH’s National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) is seeking OEM maintenance and repair for three sequencing instruments in its Laboratory of Neurogenetics. - Requirement: Preventive maintenance and emergency repairs for one ION Chef (SN 242470813), one ION S5 XL (SN 2772817050213), and one ION S5 Prime (SN 2773919070236). - Service coverage: One planned maintenance visit during the service year; parts, labor, and travel for unexpected breakdowns; hardware and software updates during annual maintenance; and remote phone and email support. Remote monitoring and diagnostics are subject to customer data policies. - Response and location: Priority response target is two business days in Service Zones 1 and 2, or three business days outside those zones. On-site maintenance is at 5625 Fishers Lane. - Vendor and procurement approach: The notice states NIH intends to award a firm-fixed-price purchase order to Life Technologies Corporation. ThermoFisher is identified as the sole manufacturer; the notice says its certified field service engineers have the required training, technical access, and replacement parts. Description
The laboratory of Neurogenetics conducts genetic analyses of DNA samples to determine the genetic contribution to various mental health conditions including alcohol use disorder. One method used to determine genetic contribution is sequencing of both DNA and RNA from various sources (human and animal blood and/or tissues can be sequenced with the ION Proton sequencing systems). The purpose of this contract is to obtain preventative maintenance and emergency repair service when needed for our ION Sequencing systems including one Chef (SN 242470813) and 2 sequencers: S5XL (SN 2772817050213) and S5 Prime (SN 2773919070236).
