The USPS awarded a contract for remote American Sign Language interpretation to support eligible employees and applicants.
Description
The United States Postal Service (Postal Service) is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to employees and job applicants in accordance with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. The Postal Service also has an obligation to provide accommodations to qualified individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing in accordance with Management Instruction (MI) EL-670-2021-4, Providing Communication Accommodations to Employees and Applicants Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
This policy requires the Postal Service to provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services via Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) technology in any Postal Installation with one (1) or more eligible signing employees.
VRI is a service that is used when an interpreter cannot be physically present to interpret for two (2) or more persons who are together at the same location. This service uses a video connection to provide access to an interpreter who is at a remote location. As with “in-person” interpreters, VRI services are generally contracted and paid for on a fee-for-service basis.
On November 20, 2024, the Employee Services CMT of the Commercial Products and Services Portfolio (Supply Management) issued competitive solicitation 2B-25-A-0007. Following evaluation and discussion, the Postal Service awarded an Indefinite-Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) to Tive, LLC of Los Angeles, CA. The Period of Performance consists of a four (4) year base period and two (2) 2-year option periods. For subcontracting opportunities, please contact Leif Martinoff at leif@tivetechnology.com.
