Description
The National Park Service amends regulations governing hunting, fishing, trapping, and other harvest-related activities in Alaska, along with procedures for restricting public use and access in Alaska park areas, including for subsistence. The final rule restores the framework adopted in 1981 to implement the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, with updates and clarifications following public comments and agency review. It removes regulatory changes made in 2015, 2017, and 2024, and recognizes the distinct and complementary roles of the State of Alaska, the Federal Subsistence Management Program, and the National Park Service. The rule is effective November 18, 2026.
