The FAA issued a safety directive covering Airbus A330 aircraft, rather than a solicitation to purchase goods or services. - Government buyer: U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). - OEM: Airbus SAS, manufacturer of the affected A330-841 and A330-941 airplanes. - Scope: Compliance actions for potentially affected aircraft, including flight manual and minimum equipment list revisions; high-pressure valve seal tests, inspections, troubleshooting, and corrective actions; and bleed monitoring computer software updates with related work. - Notable requirements: The directive restricts installation of specified affected parts and software. It addresses leaking engine bleed air system high-pressure valves that could damage downstream components and threaten airplane control. Compliance timing follows EASA AD 2025-0104R1, subject to FAA exceptions; the FAA estimates 22 U.S.-registered airplanes may be affected. - No products, purchase quantities, contract value, or procurement period are specified.
Description
The Federal Aviation Administration is superseding Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2025-04-05, applicable to Airbus SAS Model A330-841 and A330-941 airplanes. The rule retains prior requirements except for repetitive replacement of affected engine bleed air system high pressure valve clips, and adds bleed monitoring computer software updates, additional work, and an additional minimum equipment list revision, as applicable. It also prohibits installation of certain bleed monitoring computer software. The directive addresses an unsafe condition involving the engine bleed air system high pressure valves.
