The National Research Council of Canada is seeking specialized laser-facet coating equipment for its Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre. - Government buyer: National Research Council Canada (NRC), for the Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre (CPFC); Finance & Procurement Services is also identified in the notice. - OEMs and vendors: No equipment manufacturer, OEM, or supplier is named in the solicitation. - Main purchase: Two Dual Ion Beam Sputter Deposition (IBS/DIBS) Laser Facet Coating Systems; no part numbers are provided. - Systems are intended for precision coating of laser-diode facets and compound-semiconductor fabrication, including antireflection, high-reflection, passivation, and custom multilayer coatings. - Required capabilities include high-vacuum load locks, primary and assist ion-beam sources, process-gas support for argon, oxygen, and nitrogen, automated target handling, substrate handling, vacuum pumping and residual-gas analysis, optical deposition monitoring, automated controls, and safety interlocks. - Systems must support substrates at least 76–100 mm in size and include a target carousel with at least four positions. - Optional equipment and services: Two 8-inch target carousels, annual scheduled service for the two systems, and warranty extensions for the two systems to a maximum of two years. - Delivery and implementation: Delivery is to Ottawa. System pricing must include installation; NRC is responsible for on-site rigging or assembly costs. The supplier must provide performance documentation, factory and site acceptance testing, and on-site theory and hands-on training for up to five NRC personnel. - Notable requirements: Green packaging is mandatory. The equipment supports CPFC production capability and its objective of reducing the time and cost of new product introduction; the project also references retrofitting an existing facility for an ISO 6 clean room.
Description
The National Research Council Canada requires two Dual Ion Beam Sputter Deposition (IBS) Laser Facet Coating Systems. The equipment will support the Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre’s capability to provide known good die to clients and reduce time and cost for new product introduction. The project includes establishing an ISO 6 clean room through retrofitting an existing facility to house automated tools. The contract period is from award through December 15, 2028, with an anticipated start date of December 7, 2026.
