NOAA issued a temporary rule reallocating Atka mackerel catch allowances in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands.

Description

NMFS reallocates 700 metric tons of the projected unused 2026 Atka mackerel incidental catch allowance for the Bering Sea subarea and Eastern Aleutian district to the Amendment 80 cooperative allocation in those areas. The action revises the applicable 2026 allocations to 100 metric tons for the incidental catch allowance and 33,519 metric tons for the Amendment 80 cooperative allocation. It is intended to allow the 2026 Atka mackerel total allowable catch in the Bering Sea subarea and Eastern Aleutian district to be fully harvested. The temporary rule is effective October 16 through December 31, 2026.
