NASA is seeking capability information for one year of engineering and technical support for Kennedy Space Center’s Weather Instrumentation (WX) Subsystem. - Opportunity: NASA Shared Services Center (NASA/NSSC), supporting NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC), identifies SCIENTIFIC LIGHTNING SOLUTIONS LLC as the intended sole-source provider and requests information to determine whether the work should be competed. - Scope: Support covers lightning data analysis for Launch Complex 39B (LC-39B), the Mobile Launcher, and Orion lightning instrumentation and monitoring systems; lightning protection and grounding consultation; troubleshooting WX and Space Launch System (SLS) hardware, software, and firmware; software support; laboratory and field testing; and verification and validation of integrated or modified systems. - Deliverables and coordination: Deliverables will be defined with each support request and may include technical reports or papers, telephone consultations, or electronic media. Description

NASA/NSSC has a requirement for Engineering & Technical Support - Weather Instrumentation (WX) Subsystem Support. NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to SCIENTIFIC LIGHTNING SOLUTIONS LLC, 3340 N Courtenay PKWY, Merritt Island, Florida 32953-8312 under the authority of FAR 12.102(a). It has been determined that SCIENTIFIC LIGHTNING SOLUTIONS LLC is the sole provider of Engineering & Technical Support- Weather Instrumentation (WX) Subsystem Support NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort. Performance will be located at NASA/ Kennedy Space Center (KSC). The Government intends to acquire Commercial items or services using the provisions, clauses and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12 for Commercial The NAICS Code for this procurement is 541330. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on 10/20/2026. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
