The Canadian Space Agency is seeking research and development proposals for priority technologies intended to enable future Canadian space missions. - Government buyer: Canadian Space Agency (CSA), Space Technology Development Program, on behalf of the Government of Canada. - OEM mentioned: Teledyne-e2v, whose CIS 301/302 CMOS image sensors are specified for PT2 readout-electronics development. - Projects sought: Proposals may address one or more of three priority technology projects; one contract is planned for each selected priority. - PT1 — Lightweight athermal reflecting telescope for CubeSats: one development project; target TRL 5. Requirements include mass below 1.3 kg excluding the detector, an entrance pupil of at least 80 mm, volume below 2U, and validation in representative thermal-vacuum and vibration environments. Maximum funding: CAD $1 million; estimated duration: 16 months. - PT2 — Readout electronics for large-mosaic, low-light astronomical imagers: one development project; target at least TRL 4. Includes a breadboard and laboratory characterization for Teledyne-e2v CIS 301/302 sensors (9000 × 8600 pixels, 10 μm pitch), FPGA-based control, and multiple readout modes. Maximum funding: CAD $1 million; estimated duration: 24 months. - PT3 — Terrestrial Snow Mass Mission technologies: one development project; target TRL 4. Includes design, fabrication, and testing of dual-frequency Ku-band transmit/receive module subassemblies at 13.5 GHz and 17.25 GHz, with two receive channels and one shared transmit/receive channel. Approximately 100 modules are anticipated for the future mission; this is not a stated procurement quantity. Maximum funding: CAD $2 million; estimated duration: 12 months, with an alternate schedule of up to 15 months. - Services: Project-specific technology development, engineering, design, analysis, prototyping, integration, testing, validation, maturity and risk assessment, technology roadmapping, and technical reporting. Deliverables vary by project and may include models, prototypes, software, and data. - Notable requirements: Proposals must meet technical evaluation thresholds. Security requirements and an Indigenous Participation Plan apply. Delivery is to CSA in St-Hubert, Quebec. - Performance period: Estimated project durations vary by priority; contract start and end dates are to be established at award.

Description

The Canadian Space Agency is seeking proposals to develop one to three enabling space technologies for future missions, as described in Appendix A-5. The work is intended to advance the specified priority technology and its technology readiness level, reduce technical uncertainties, and support approval and implementation of potential future Canadian space missions. The contract duration is estimated at 23 months. The solicitation is open competitive bidding and closes November 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. EST.
