The U.S. Marine Corps is seeking prototype solutions for an improved expeditionary mobile power distribution system. - Government buyer: United States Marine Corps, through the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) Commercial Solutions Opening. - OEMs and vendors: No product manufacturers, OEMs, resellers, or vendors are named. DIU is the procurement organization, not an identified product vendor. - Requested configurations: Five I-MEPDIS configurations are sought: Micro Grid 1200A, 200A, 120A, 30A, and Bidirectional DC 30A. The configurations have different input and output arrangements, listed below; quantities and part numbers are not specified. - Common technical requirements: Connect tactical generators and energy storage; accept 120V and 208V three-phase AC inputs; distribute 120VAC, 208V three-phase AC, and 28V DC; and remain backwards compatible with the existing MEPDIS-Replacement system. All inputs must be capable of being paralleled. Amperage monitoring is highly desired. - Mobility and qualification: Systems rated below 200A must be person-portable. Systems above 200A must be skid-mounted and transportable with standard U.S. Marine Corps Material Handling Equipment. All systems must meet MIL-STD-810 environmental testing requirements. - Development approach: The effort involves iterative prototyping and evaluations by operational users. Phase 1 design, prototyping, and compliance testing is estimated at 6–12 months; Phase 2 operational user evaluations is estimated at 1–3 months. - Potential competing providers: Trystar, Eaton, and Schneider Electric offer power distribution products that could be relevant alternatives; the notice does not identify them as participants.

Description

The United States Marine Corps seeks a robust, scalable, and rapidly deployable Improved Mobile Electric Power Distribution System (I-MEPDIS) to replace aging MEPDIS-Replacement panels. The system must interconnect tactical generators and energy storage systems, distribute power to mission and support systems in expeditionary environments, and be backwards compatible with the current system. The project uses a two-phase iterative prototyping process: initial design and prototyping with MIL-STD compliance testing, followed by field evaluations with operational units. Vendors may submit an approximately five-page white paper or 15-slide deck, independently or through a teaming arrangement; selected vendors will provide a ROM cost for Phase 2.
