FDA Building 64 laboratory renovation construction services

GSA is conducting market research for a renovation of FDA laboratory and equipment spaces in Building 64 in Silver Spring, Maryland. - Government buyer: U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), Public Buildings Service (PBS), Acquisition Project Delivery – Capital Construction Division. The work is for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA). - Requested service: Design-bid-build construction to renovate 13 laboratories and equipment rooms on the first floor and 19 on the second floor. - Major scope: A bulk nitrogen storage pad and distribution system; a second-floor mass spectrometry suite, chemical storage room, and cell culture lab; and modifications to a Small Drug Manufacturing facility/lab. - Building systems and security: Specialized HVAC for pressure, humidity, and air quality, including HEPA/ULPA filtration and positive pressure; high-purity gas piping; plumbing, electrical and UPS upgrades; and architectural, structural, fire-protection, and security work, including card readers and security doors. - Notable requirements: Construction will take place in an occupied, mission-critical federal research facility. Work must be coordinated with government operations and maintenance contractors, maintain safety and security, and minimize disruption. - Estimated value and duration: $5 million–$10 million; estimated contract duration is 18 months. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION AND SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE for Construction Services for the Federal Research Center of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services-Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 1st and 2nd Floor Mass Spec and Multiple Labs Project in Building 64 located on the main campus, 10903 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL.
