USACE Buffalo District is seeking industry input for anticipated design-build construction at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center. - Building 1: Stabilize and secure the building for future development, including exterior repairs and restoration, demolition of the temporary tunnel, interior demolition, and hazardous-material abatement. - Building 3: Complete interior demolition and fit out a permanent outpatient pharmacy, including fire protection, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and communications work. - Project requirements: Address infection control, commissioning, and turnover, along with construction sequencing and coordination on the active medical-center campus. - Industry feedback sought: Contractor interest and capacity, bonding, labor and specialty-trade availability, supply-chain and long-lead material risks, teaming, schedule risks, and potential effects of a project labor agreement (PLA). - Opportunity status: This is market research and an industry event—not a solicitation or commitment to award a contract. No OEMs, vendors, quantities, or part numbers are identified.

Description

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, invites interested prime contractors, subcontractors, design firms, specialty trade contractors, and other industry partners to participate in a virtual Industry Day for the anticipated VA Canandaigua Phase III Design-Build project.

1. Purpose

The purpose of this Industry Day is to provide an overview of the anticipated requirement and obtain industry feedback regarding contractor interest, capacity, bonding, labor availability, teaming, schedule feasibility, and market conditions.

This event is for market-research purposes only. It is not a solicitation, request for proposal, commitment by the Government, or authorization to incur proposal-preparation costs.

2. Anticipated Requirement

The anticipated requirement is a Design-Build construction project at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center, Canandaigua, New York.

The project is expected to include two primary and distinct components; the stabilization and “make safe” preparation of Building 1 and the renovation and fit-out of an outpatient pharmacy within Building 3.

Building 1 exterior work includes repair, restoration, and replacement of deteriorated building envelope components, restoration of the main entry walk and stair along with demolition of the existing temporary tunnel. Building 1 interior work includes demolition to the structural frame with abatement, removal of existing systems except to maintain limited building function and campus continuity, with end state to be in a physically secure and structurally sound condition for future development. Building 3 interior demolition and build out for a permanent pharmacy; with associated fire protection, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, communications, infection-control measures, commissioning, and turnover requirements.
