Description
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency approves Colorado's application for primary enforcement responsibility for Class VI injection wells under the Safe Drinking Water Act. This enables the Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission to issue and enforce UIC Class VI permits for geologic carbon sequestration. EPA remains the permitting authority for Class VI wells on Indian lands in Colorado. The final rule also codifies previously approved, non-substantial changes to Colorado's UIC program for Class II injection wells.
