Fermilab is seeking proposals for cryogenic rupture disks and burst-alert sensors to protect PIP-II CM 2K helium volumes from overpressure. - Government buyer: U.S. Department of Energy; Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL/Fermilab), PIP-II Cryogenic Distribution System; Procurement Department, managed by Fermi Forward Discovery Group, LLC (also identified as FermiForward and FFDG). - OEMs and vendors: No rupture-disk or sensor manufacturer is named. Fermi Forward Discovery Group, LLC is identified as Fermilab’s management organization and subcontractor-certification provider, not as the product OEM. - Products requested: - 30 RD-nn21 cryogenic rupture disk cartridges (nn = 02–25), set pressure 3.1 barg. - 3 RD-0121 cryogenic rupture disk cartridges, set pressure 1.75 barg. - 33 burst-alert sensors. - Notable technical requirements: Welded Inconel construction for helium service; 4-inch connections; ASME Section VIII/National Board certification; full-vacuum capability; helium leak rate no greater than 10⁻⁸ atm-cc/sec; normally closed, two-lead burst-alert sensors; and external handling and centering accessories. The two disk configurations have different relieving temperatures, flow requirements, and expected orifice diameters; detailed requirements are in specification ED0049129. - Supplier information: The attachments also include FermiForward’s annual subcontractor representations and certifications form. It is a supplier qualification form, not a product purchase. - Period of performance: Not specified; delivery schedule is to be provided with the proposal.
Description
Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL) is building a next generation proton accelerator called the Proton Improve Plan II (PIP-II). FNAL is soliciting proposals for Safety Rupture Disks to protect from overpressure.
Proposals can be submitted directly to the Primary Contact listed on this notice and within the RFP Document. Pricing must be submitted using the Request for Proposal Pricing Sheet, Exhibit F, which is located at the end of the RFP document.
