DOE market research seeks industry input on delivering a large-diameter wellbore at the Nevada National Security Site. - Buyer and opportunity - The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), through the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), is gathering industry feedback for the Rock Valley Direct Comparison site at NNSS. - Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS), the NNSS operator for NNSA, is conducting the market research. The Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation is identified in the attached project report. - This is an Expression of Interest and Request for Information, not an award. No specific commercial OEMs or equipment vendors are named. - Requested work - Plan and deliver a 24-inch open-hole wellbore to 6,500 feet true vertical depth (TVD); the bottom 1,400 feet is specified as uncased. - The conceptual design includes a 56-inch conductor hole with 50-inch casing set at 125 feet TVD; a 48-inch surface hole with 42-inch casing set at 3,000 feet TVD; and a 36-inch production hole with a 28-inch intermediate liner from 2,800 to 5,100 feet TVD. - The anticipated work is phased: design and engineering; long-lead items, rig modifications, and procurement; then construction and drilling operations. - Technical considerations requested for industry feedback - Drilling and casing methods, including dual-string reverse circulation for larger sections. - Geophysical logging, circulation and drilling fluids, loss-circulation management, water and mud storage, cementing, risks, costs, and an estimated schedule to begin drilling. - A geophysical logs LAS file is available upon request. - Attachment context - An attached end-of-well report describes the UE-27a reference borehole and related characterization work, including continuous coring, geophysical logging, groundwater sampling, and downhole instrumentation. This report documents prior project work; it does not identify additional commercial products or quantities for this RFI. - Commercial information - No contract value, fixed performance period, product part numbers, or purchase quantities are provided. The anticipated structure is a time-and-materials master agreement with a base scope and two option scopes.
