The City of Meriden is seeking an outside firm to identify vehicles that may be improperly registered and assess related municipal tax obligations. - Government buyer: City of Meriden, Connecticut; local government in New Haven County. No sub-agency or purchasing office is identified. - Requested service: Audit vehicles owned by Meriden residents and kept within the city to verify out-of-state registrations and identify vehicles not registered locally. - Purpose and requirements: Determine which vehicles are subject to municipal property tax, support fair assessments, and help Meriden recover lost tax revenue under applicable Connecticut statutes. - OEMs and vendors: No OEMs or vendors are named; this is a service procurement, with no products, part numbers, or quantities specified.

Description

The City of Meriden is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to conduct a comprehensive audit of vehicles operating within its municipal borders that are registered out of state or have failed to register locally, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes §12-71 and §14-12a. The work includes checking the validity of out-of-state license plates on vehicles owned by Meriden residents and identifying vehicles kept in town but registered elsewhere. The goal is to identify vehicles subject to municipal property tax, establish fair assessments, and recover lost tax revenue. Proposals must be submitted via the OpenGov EPortal.
