Greenwich Public Schools is seeking a fully managed, E-Rate-eligible next-generation firewall service for its 17 district locations. - Government buyer: Greenwich Public Schools, a public school district in Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut. - Primary OEM: Fortinet is identified as the firewall manufacturer, with equivalent solutions permitted. Two existing Fortinet FortiGate 6301F appliances are cited as context, not as a required purchase or brand preference. The district’s existing network environment also includes HPE/Aruba switches, including 5400R zl2 and Aruba CX models. - Requested service: Provide a complete managed firewall solution, including hardware, software, licenses, subscriptions, maintenance, updates, continuous monitoring, and management. Equipment-only proposals are not acceptable. Hosted appliances are preferred. - Key performance and network requirements: Support at least 20 Gbps aggregate throughput with security features enabled and two 10 Gbps handoffs at the district’s core locations. Protect north/south internet traffic; support a DMZ or equivalent segmentation, remote-access VPN, inbound access to district-hosted VoIP, cloud-service connections, and fault-tolerant operation with no single point of failure. Migrate approximately 100–250 existing firewall policies and NAT translations while maintaining service continuity. - Implementation: Include provisioning, installation, configuration, project management, coordination with the district and current provider, cutover, testing, documentation, and district acceptance. Separately identify one-time implementation and migration charges, recurring charges, and any transport or handoff equipment costs. - E-Rate and billing requirements: Identify eligible and ineligible costs separately and support SPI discount billing. Identify and allocate costs for advanced security features—such as intrusion prevention, anti-malware, web filtering, sandboxing, and threat-intelligence subscriptions—and off-campus VPN use as ineligible where applicable. The procurement references Managed Internal Broadband Services, Basic Maintenance of Internal Connections, and Internal Connections eligibility.
Description
Greenwich Public Schools is requesting proposals for a fully managed, E-Rate-eligible firewall service for its 17 district locations. The service should provide functionality comparable to or better than the existing hosted managed firewall solution, including implementation, migration of existing configurations, ongoing monitoring and management, and support for the district’s two 10 Gbps connections. Equipment-only proposals will be disqualified. The specifications call for separate pricing of recurring and non-recurring costs and identification of E-Rate eligible and ineligible components.
