VA sole-source rental and service agreement for Cepheid GeneXpert instruments

The Department of Veterans Affairs plans a sole-source Cepheid instrument rental and service agreement for its Alexandria-area clinical laboratory operations. - Procurement: Network Contracting Office 16 intends to negotiate a firm-fixed-price agreement with Cepheid, the equipment OEM. This is a notice of intent, not an award. - Locations: Alexandria VA Medical Center in Pineville, Louisiana, and five associated CBOCs in Lafayette, Lake Charles, Jennings, Natchitoches, and Fort Polk, Louisiana. - Equipment: 4 GeneXpert Xpress IV-4 units (GXIV-4-CLIA); 1 GeneXpert IV (GXIV-4-D-10C); 1 GeneXpert XVI (GXXVI-16D-10C); 6 BW printers (PRINTER-BW); and 2 110V UPS units (GX-UPS-110V). - Services and requirements: Rental, maintenance, repairs, telephone technical support, annual preventive maintenance, software updates, and reporting. Equipment is due within 60 days after award; onsite repair response is required within four business days. - Term and value: One base year and two option years, with a stated period of October 1, 2026–September 30, 2029. Each year is priced at $165,989.64, for a potential total of $497,968.92. Options are at the Government’s discretion and subject to funds availability. - Anticipated award date: November 2, 2026.

The Alexandria VA Medical Center (AVAMC) and its associated Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOCs) intend to negotiate a sole source, firm-fixed priced Contract for a period of three years with a large business, Cepheid, 904, East Caribbean Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94089-1189. The Contractor shall provide an instrument rental and service agreement for one base year and two option years (36 months) for the Instruments identified in the SOW to be used at the Alexandria VA Medical Center in Pineville, Louisiana, along with its five (5) associated CBOCs located in Lafayette, Lake Charles, Jennings, Natchitoches, and Fort Polk, Louisiana. Cepheid is the original equipment manufacturer of the required equipment.
