HRSA is requesting public comment on proposed revisions to the OPTN information collection, not seeking products or services. - Government buyer: Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS); the revisions concern the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) information collection, OMB No. 0906-0110. - Proposed changes: Add a Patient Safety Contact Management Form to record members’ primary and secondary patient-safety contacts, and a Patient Transfer Form to support transfers of post-transplant patients between transplant centers during follow-up. - Other form changes: Remove certain forms, including the Vascularized Composite Allograft Transplant Candidate Registration, because its functions are handled in the OPTN Waiting List system. - Purpose and requirements: The information collection supports organ matching and allocation, testing, labeling and packaging, patient safety, member compliance, policy development, research, and public-health surveillance. - Procurement status: This is a public-comment notice, not a procurement or award. No OEMs, vendors, products, services, quantities, or part numbers are identified.
Description
HRSA submitted a request to OMB for review and approval of revisions to the information collection for the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN). The collection covers time-sensitive information about transplant candidates, potential organ donors, organ matching and allocation, testing, labeling, and clinical information, collected from transplant hospitals, organ procurement organizations, and histocompatibility laboratories. Proposed changes include adding Patient Safety Contact Management and Patient Transfer forms and removing certain forms, to improve organ matching and allocation, patient safety, and compliance with OPTN requirements. Comments are due by November 9, 2026.
