HRSA is seeking public comment on a proposed form for collecting organizational provider identifiers from applicants for HRSA funding. - Government agency: The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), submitted the proposed Information Collection Request to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review. - Purpose: The form would collect organizational Type 2 National Provider Identifiers (NPIs) and/or Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Certification Numbers (CCNs) from organizations applying for HRSA funding through Grants.gov. - Use of information: HRSA intends to use the identifiers to link award and program information with external datasets for research, program evaluation, evidence-building, accountability, and oversight. - Important requirement: Applicants are not required to obtain or provide an NPI or CCN to apply for or receive HRSA funding. The form requests organizational Type 2 NPIs, not individual Type 1 NPIs. - OEMs and vendors: No manufacturers, vendors, or commercial products are identified. This is a public-comment notice about information collection, not a product or services procurement.
Description
HRSA submitted an Information Collection Request to OMB for review and approval under the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. The proposed form collects organizational National Provider Identifiers (Type 2 NPIs) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Certification Numbers from organizations applying for HRSA funding through Grants.gov that already have these identifiers. HRSA states that the information will support research, program evaluation, evidence-building, and accountability by linking HRSA program and award data with external datasets. Organizations are not required to obtain or provide an NPI or CCN to apply for or receive HRSA funding, and the collection does not request individual NPIs.
