The U.S. Army SBIR Phase I opportunity seeks research into simulating how combat-related injuries change with treatment during medical training. - Government buyer: Department of the Army, Army SBIR|STTR Program Office; topic A254-029. - Core requested effort: Analyze existing and emerging digital display technologies and assess approaches for showing injury progression or regression on both manikins and human actors. - Medical training scope: Address injuries relevant to Tactical Combat Casualty Care and Prolonged Casualty Care, with a Phase II plan for depicting underlying anatomy, tissues, and physiological processes. - Notable requirement: Trainee-worn equipment must be no more encumbering than operational eye-safety glasses. - Funding and duration: Phase I funding is up to $250,000 for a six-month effort. - OEMs and vendors: No OEMs or vendors are named for the injury-simulation effort. - Attachment context: The attachment also lists other Army SBIR/xTechOverwatch topics—low-altitude UAS detection, a fiber-based battery system, and autonomous unmanned systems. They are included in the line items below but are separate from the core injury-progression topic.

Description

The Army SBIR Phase I solicitation seeks technologies for dynamic representations of combat-related injuries and how they change in response to treatment. The work includes market analysis of digital display technologies, solutions for manikins and human actors, and analysis of injury progression in Tactical Combat Casualty Care and Prolonged Casualty Care scenarios. Proposals should also plan how Phase II will depict underlying anatomy and physiological processes, while avoiding trainee-worn devices more encumbering than combat eye-safety glasses. Phase I is a six-month effort with funding of up to $250,000.
