The Government of Alberta is seeking fisheries modelling and objective-setting support for fish protection at the CBRH and WH water diversions. - Buyer: Agriculture and Irrigation, Government of Alberta. - Requested work: Adapt existing Bow River Rainbow Trout cumulative-effects, population, and entrainment models; develop cumulative-effects models for Brown Trout and Mountain Whitefish; and test fish-protection scenarios. - Additional analysis: Assess whether the models can evaluate protection from entrainment and, if approved, develop Cumulative Effects Modelling for Priority of Recovery Actions (CEMPRA) models. Evaluate how reduced entrainment at the CBRH diversion could affect Bow River sport fish populations. - Deliverables: Fish species and size targets to support provincial fisheries and water management staff. - OEMs and vendors: None identified. No product quantities or part numbers are specified.
Description
The project will identify fish species and size targets for protection from entrainment at the CBRH and WH diversions, using modelling of the effects on Bow River fish populations. The work includes adapting existing Rainbow Trout models and developing cumulative effects models for Brown Trout and Mountain Whitefish to test fish protection scenarios. It will assess whether the models can evaluate protection from entrainment and, if approved, develop CEMPRA models. The project will also describe effects on Bow River sport fish populations and develop fish size and species targets for fisheries and water management staff.
