Description

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is withdrawing its notice of intent to prepare a draft environmental impact statement for the Mississippi River and Tributaries—Morganza, Louisiana to the Gulf of Mexico Hurricane Protection—Houma Navigation Canal Deepening General Re-Evaluation. The original notice of intent was published on May 23, 2003. The project was conditionally authorized under Section 403 of the Water Resources Development Act of 2020, and USACE determined that an Environmental Assessment, rather than an Environmental Impact Statement, is the appropriate environmental documentation. The withdrawal is effective October 8, 2026.
